    Honouring the Children from Peshawar, Pakistán

    We, the Executive Committee of ASSITEJ, the International Association of Theatre for Children and Youth, denounce in the strongest terms the recent horrific attack on the children of Peshawar, Pakistan, and of any attempt anywhere in the world, to use children as a pawn in political machinations. It is ironic that this attack comes so close to the bestowal on Malala Yousafzai of the Nobel Peace prize for her efforts in support of children’s right to education, and the celebration of her extraordinary courage and commitment. Who knows how many other Malalas there might have been in that group of over 130 children who were killed with such inhuman violence?

    Next Generation Placements 2014/2015

    With the selection of 9 young professionals, emerging artists and theatre makers in the beginning of October, the selection process of the second edition of NGP mobility program was successfully closed. Within NG Placement program 9 theatre houses and festivals from 6 different countries have opened calls for participation in their programs for all interested young artists and theatre makers from around the world, and have invited them to use this opportunity to develop their skills and gain a precious and useful experience at the beginning of their professional careers.

    We have started working on the next issue of ASSITEJ Magazine that will be launched at the next ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering in Berlin April 2015 during the Augenblick mal! Festival.

    This year the Magazine will have approximately double the amount of pages and consist of two themes :

    The 50th Anniversary of ASSITEJ

    One Step Beyond: Inter-Generational exchange, the theme of the festival and the ASSITEJ Artistic Gathering

    ASSITEJ proposes to unite theatres, organizations and individuals throughout the world dedicated to theatre for children and young people.

    ASSITEJ is dedicated to artistic, cultural political and educational efforts and no decision, action or statement of the Association shall be based on nationality, political conviction, cultural identity, ethnicity, or religion.

    ASSITEJ promotes international exchange of knowledge and practice in theatre in order to increase creative co-operation and to deepen mutual understanding between all persons involved in the performing arts for young audiences.
