ASSITEJ Newsletter, September 2009

Dear friends of ASSITEJ

After the circle of festivals and symposiums in July and August in Tokyo, Seoul, Osaka and Okinawa, where lot of ASSITEJ members participated with their performances or as the speakers in symposiums, and after the short break in August, theatre world for young audiences is coming back to it’s regular life. September is a month of the openings of new performances, the month of festivals, but also the month when the ASSITEJ office starts working again.

I am happy to inform you that ASSITEJ International has a new office, given to our association by the municipality of Zagreb. Please do note the new address:

Croatia

The 12th Meeting and Festival of the Croatian centre of ASSITEJ

and The 3rd Epifest, festival of theatres from Central and South-eastern Europe will be held in Cakovec, Croatia from the 12th to the 17th of October.

The meeting is organized by the Centre of culture in Cakovec and Croatian centre of ASSITEJ. For the selector of the shows is elected Magdalena Lupi. It will be presented 10 shows from Croatia.


The 3rd EPIFEST

In the same period, the 3rd Epifest, festival of theatres from Central and South-eastern Europe will be held. The program is made of the performances from Austria, Montenegro, Italy and Greece.

Within the Festival the Conference on regional cooperation in Central and Southeastern Europe will be held.

Public Forums: Interactivity of Theatre and Education: 10 and 19 September 2009

Linked to the Devotion tour, there will be two Public Forums to discuss the "Interactivity between Theatre and Education" - with invited education and art and culture department officials in attendance, educators, and theatre
practitioners interested in working in schools.
At this forum we will explore how to revitalise and strengthen theatre in education in South Africa.
