an outstanding Russian writer, translator (mostly English poetry), and author of children’s books, who was born and lived in Voronezh city. Right before the start of the festival the world’s first monument to Samuel Marshak was opened near the house where he lived and worked.

There were three main sections in the festival program: theatre for children (productions of professional theatre companies), children’s theatre (productions of amateur studios where children play), and workshops for children with famous theatre directors, actors and educational specialists’ participation.

In total 25 theatre productions for children and youth were presented at the festival. Many of them are nominees and winners of the Russian national theatre awards Golden Mask and Harlequin. Also three companies from Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan were among the participants.

MARSHAK-2015 was a bright and truly grand event. All theatre venues of the city were involved– the Opera and Ballet Theatre, Drama Theatre, Chamber Theatre, TYA, Puppet Theatre “Shut”, and Voronezh concert hall.  About 18 thousand people attended the event, and this new festival has become one of the largest theatre forums in Russia, addressed to children.
