Last month, I spent a few days in the Child Drama Archives at Arizona State University, arguably the largest archives in the field, certainly in terms of material from US researchers and practitioners in the field of theatre and drama with, by, and for children Copenhagen.

As always, the festival will contain an enormous amount and variation of theatre for young audiences. There will be around 130 professional theatre companies presenting 200 different performances, amounting to almost 800 shows.

The Aprilfestival gives all of us a unique opportunity to go on a theatre adventure. Remember Aprilfestival has no curators – the freedom is yours to choose for yourselves and explore the unexpected!

An international meeting place

The entire Danish TYA environment will be present, and the festival is normally visited by at least 100 international guests from all parts of the world. This year it won’t be less because the festival this year takes place in Copenhagen.

As something new the major conference of the festival will be in English. This year the theme is “Audience development”, and will be investigated intellectually in talks as well as physical and sensorial in “walks” and practical examples.
