From Saturday Oct 1st to Friday Oct 7th, 2022 Vienna will be the center for performing arts for young audiences, with a handpicked program from Austria and guests from all over the globe. Intended as an important impulse to draw attention to the diversity and quality of the Austrian theatre and dance scene for young audiences once a year, STELLA Festival is starting now it’s 16th edition!

With the four Viennese venues: Burgtheater Wien, Dschungel Wien, WUK Kinderkultur and Werk X Petersplatz, intensively supporting ASSITEJ Austria in the festival creation, a rich program of 10 STELLA Award nominated productions, selected by an independent jury, as well as a diverse supporting and professional program will be offered for seven days.

This festival’s edition, ASSITEJ Austria, in close collaboration with YOUNG DANCE NETWORK, a network of ASSITEJ International, puts a focus on dance for young audience and is presenting a specialized program, which includes: YDNs Artistic Encounter moderated by Alfredo Zinola and Sanja Tropp Frühwald, 2 Masterclasses with Ceren Oran (site-specific work) and Gabi Dan Droste (physical dramaturgy), and YDNs open circles and meetings in person as well as in hybrid/online formats.

NEKUDAK, a newly formed Austrian organization that gathers theatre and dance mediators and pedagogues, will be joining ASSITEJ Austria in discovering specificities of dance for young audiences through their own program selection of workshops, methods, share & exchange sessions and a masterclass conducted by Felix Berner (dance mediation). A very rich program welcomes all theatre and dance professionals from Austria and abroad.
Interested members of ASSITEJ International worldwide are warmly welcomed in joining us for the most STELLAr experience this October in wonderful Vienna!
