    🌎 Frankfurt am Main, DEU
    🗓 2 – 14 July 2021 & 4th-15th March 2021
    ⏰ 1st December 2020

Next year’s period of “Starke Stücke” festival is going to be 4th to 15th March as well as 2nd to 14th July 2021. Read the open call for performances here.

We are also looking for a Site-Specific Performance for Zoogesellschaftshaus!

Frankfurt am Main is going to get its own municipal theatre for children and young audiences in the Zoogesellschaftshaus.

Even before the actual conception and reconstruction phase of the building, “Starke Stücke” is looking for a production to be performed at the venue during the upcoming festival.

    Festival period: 2nd – 14th July 2021
We are looking for a guest performance,

    •   that can be adapted to the site-specific conditions of the Zoogesellschaftshaus
    •   that can be played out in compliance with the applicable protective measures and

      with little technical effort

The guest performance should be adaptable for at least one or two “Starke Stücke” venues in the Rhine-Main region.

      Our audience:

      •   The festival audience is mainly people between 2 and 16 years of age; preference is given to a production that works for many age groups and families.
      •   It is possible to include children and young people as direct participants in the concept.

We look forward to your concepts and productions. Deadline for applications is 1st December 2020.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the festival office.

New professor for Aesthetics in TYA at the University of Hildesheim

Maike Gunsilius, researcher, dramaturg and performer, starts her first semester as Professor of the Aesthetics of TYA at the University of Hildesheim this October. She follows Geesche Wartemann, one of the founding members of ITYARN, in this unique professorship. In ASSITEJ Germany’s magazine IXYPSILONZETT (2/2020) she reflects on her sources of inspiration. She names a variety of songs, games, books (i.e. “Queenie” by Candice Carty-Williams) and tv series and, of course, the theatre.

New contact: Diversity Development in TYA

ASSITEJ Germany has successfully established a new full-time position in the Children’s and Young People’s Theatre Centre (www.kjtz.de) in Frankfurt (Main). September 1st was the first day in the office for Mirrianne Mahn, performer and activist, who will now challenge our art and our structures. Contact Mirrianne directly m.mahn@kjtz.de or send an a-mail to Julia Dina Hesse (juliadina@web.de) , Vice President of ASSITEJ Germany, to find out more about initiatives and developments towards a greater diversity within the German TYA landscape.

European Theatre Forum 11 – 13 November 2020 in Dresden and online

The European Theatre Forum is part of the activities within the German EU Council Presidency and it is the first ever format that brings performing arts from all over Europe together. How should and will the EU fund and support its theatre landscapes in the next 10 years or so?

ASSITEJ International has been active in the planning process of this European event and although the European Theatre Forum will be hosted online, it will still be located in the city of Dresden, where one of the biggest and oldest TYA-venues in Germany  – the Theater Junge Generation – is located. Stefan Fischer-Fels and Julia Dina Heße are involved on behalf of ASSITEJ Germany.
