This year the Mexican Theatre Center, as part of the World Day of Theatre Celebration gave a special recognition to Tita Lizalde, actress and puppet theatre promoter in Mexico, awarding her the medal “My Life in Theatre”. For 12 years she was director of the Children’s Theatre Center of the National Fine Arts Institute. Tita Lizalde was always very passionate about puppets, she brought Mexico into UNIMA and was the creator of TITIRIGLOBO, considered a space for puppets and children, that during the eighties rekindled puppet theatre in Mexico.

ASSITEJ Mexico deeply regrets the passing of the Mexican Minister of Culture, Rafael Tovar y de Teresa, diplomat, lawyer and Mexican historian.

He was President of Conaculta in three different periods, until this organization became the Ministry of Culture in 2016.

Tovar y de Teresa will always be remembered, among other things, for having projected Mexican art and culture at an international level and driven cultural relations and exchanges with other countries.

Both Conaculta and the Ministry of Culture have been fundamental supports in sustaining the ASSITEJ General Secretariat in Mexico.

May he rest in peace.

This publication has great prestige, it has received several awards and acknowledgements and is distributed in Mexico and Iberoamerica. The 68^th issue that was recently launched on January 12, dedicated, for the first time, a dossier to “Theatre for the Early Age” that includes articles from: Roberto Frabetti, Ben Fletcher-Watson and Janós Novák, to mention some of the international artists linked to the ASSITEJ community; as well as Teatro al Vacío and Susana Romo, among other Mexican artists, who have acquired greater knowledge and experience in this kind of theatre due to the exchanges with ASSITEJ and its networks, and have been able to develop it within our country.

Congratulations to this publication.

The 37th National Theatre Festival took place during November 3-12, ten days of important exchanges to enhance both the links and scenic development of the country.

The roundtable Theatre for Specific Audiences, had great participation. It would seem that those artists who create work for audiences 0 – 20 years old, have an urgency of making young people participant in political and social themes. They seek to bring them closer to new content and communicate from new platforms and formats.

The dialogue table presented an excellent opportunity to refelct and recognize artists and creators with a genuine desire to communicate and positively and actively participate and contribute to our social reality.

The Seminar and National Encounter of Performances for Teenagers, from the state of Hidalgo, was also analyzed. It is an academic program that seeks to professionalize and develop new poetics in theatre, dance, performance and performing arts directed to young audiences.

In this way, 600 specialists, creators, directors, artists and people from the community, analyzed, debated and found intersections in the different scenic proposals coming from the country, which, without a doubt, helped to enrich the national scenic spectrum in young audiences.
