Building Bridges, Crossing Borders
We are only about a year from the 17th ASSITEJ World Congress and Performing Arts Festival for Young Audiences. The event starts on the 20th of May with the opening ceremony at The Opera in Malmoe, which will be followed by amazing days in Copenhagen, and Malmoe, full of cultural diversity and vibrant, high quality and inspirational performances from all over the world.
The overall theme ”Building Bridges, Crossing Borders” is reflected in the cultural diversity of the performances as well as in the hosting partnership shared by Copenhagen, Denmark and Malmoe, Sweden. For the first time ever the Congress takes place in two cities simultaneously. Copenhagen and Malmoe (connected by the magnificent Öresund Bridge) share the ASSITEJ 2011-Congress due to their close relations as neighbouring cities and the constantly increasing integration in the commercial, cultural and daily life of the population of the Öresund Region, which - due to its infrastructure and dynamism- offers all possibilities for a progressive and future orientated congress.
The ASSITEJ Performing Arts Festival will give you the opportunity to attend a wide range of international performances that are currently magnetizing audiences in different parts of the world. The focus point of the festival is to show new original plays. In addition to the Performing Arts Festival, a Danish/Swedish”cavalcade” will present the “best of the best” of Danish and Swedish performances. And of course, groundbreaking seminars, master-classes, play-readings, workshops and inspiring discussions will be a significant part of the comprehensive programme.
The whole world will be there - will you?
