Friends of ASSITEJ

This initiative is about making a personal commitment to assisting the work of ASSITEJ International and ensuring its future.

We all know that the world is changing. Sources of funding are becoming harder to find and we can no longer count on the major financial backing that we have relied upon for decades. ASSITEJ urgently needs to find new ways of gaining financial support in order to survive.

Because the strength of ASSITEJ lies with its practitioners, we have decided that our first fundraising initiative should be with individuals. Becoming a Friend of ASSITEJ is a practical and tangible way of showing your support for the organization that has brought so much to so many artists, children and young people all over the world.

As a Friend of ASSITEJ you will be part of an international community of theatre practitioners for children and young people.

As a Friend of ASSITEJ you will receive:

• information about the ASSITEJ International actvities
• a copy of the ASSITEJ Book (published bi-annually)
• a unique ASSITEJ Friend's pin (bronze, silver or gold)
• listing on the ASSITEJ web-site as a ”Friend of ASSITEJ”
• an invitation to attend an ASSITEJ Friend's event at ASSITEJ World Congresses

Most importantly, you will become a key player in helping this vital organisation to continue.

To become a Friend of ASSITEJ, your annual contribution will be USD 100 (bronze), or the equivalent in other currencies. Other options are USD 250 (silver) for three years, or USD 500 (gold) for life.

What is ASSITEJ International?

ASSITEJ was established in 1965 by a global alliance of professional theatre for children and young people. Today, ASSITEJ is an international network of theatre for children and young people. ASSITEJ links thousands of theatres, organizations and individuals through national centres in more than 80 countries.

ASSITEJ was created to facilitate the development of theatre for children and young people on the highest artistic level. Recognizing that children and young people make up a large part of the world’s population and that children and young people are the future of the world, the aims of ASSITEJ are:

To work for the rights of children and young people to artistic experiences especially designed and created for them.

To work for the recognition and acknowledgement of theatre for children and young people.

To work for improvement of the conditions of theatre for children and young people all over the world.

To improve the common knowledge of theatre for children and young people worldwide, thus drawing the attention of international and national authorities to the importance of taking children and young people and the work created for them seriously.

To give people working with theatre for children and young people possibilities of becoming acquainted with the work of colleagues from other countries and cultures, thus enabling them to enrich theatre for children and young people in their own country.

To help to form in all countries, ASSITEJ centres which function in accordance with the mission, constitution and policies of the Association. These national centres shall unite all theatres, organizations and people interested in theatre for children and young people.
