Name: Paul Harman

I was born in 1940, started work as a professional actor in 1963 and in 1966 began a 42 year career creating and directing over 100 plays for young audiences. I founded Merseyside Young People’s Theatre in Liverpool in 1978 and ran it until 1989. In 1994 I became Artistic Director of CTC Theatre in Darlington and left in April 2008.

I have translated plays from French, German and Russian and now regularly perform in a bilingual play for children in France and England. Since 1989 I have directed the annual Takeoff Festival of professional theatre for young audiences.

I served as Treasurer of ASSITEJ International from 1990 to 1993 and am an Honorary Life President of the UK Centre of ASSITEJ.
