Yvette Hardie was Head of the Drama Department of the National School of the Arts, and taught there between 1991 and 2004. She initiated The Festival of Fame (an annual arts festival for school pupils), The Original Works Festival (a festival of new writing to encourage emerging playwrights) and The FET Certificate in the Performing Arts (a vocationally-oriented training programme for which she wrote the unit standards). She is a curriculum developer and writer of textbooks for Dramatic Arts, and teaches voice in a variety of contexts as a certified Lessac Voice and Movement specialist. She serves on the Performing Arts Network of South Africa (Western Cape) executive.
