Ibero American Report
The ASSITEJ Iberoamerican Centres cellebrated their annual meeting in Cadiz, in November 2009, during the Iberoamerican Theatre Festival (FIT). There were present in the meeting delegates from Spain, Argentine, Brasil and Paraguay.
During the meeting the Iberoamerican Centres agreed in:
- To carry out the Iberoamerican Virtual Library Project to be launched in November 2010 in Cadiz and in May 2011 during the ASSITEJ Congress.
- To go on and cooperate with their common projects:
Taboo in theatre for Children and Young People workshops.
Schoolyard stories in Iberoamerican (organized by ATINA with the participation of the other centres)
ITYARN meeting in Buenos Aires (July 2010)
New centers:
At the moment Paraguay (PARASSITEJ) and Ecuador (ASOESCENA) are applying for their membership to ASSITEJ International
Spain and Argentina are also in touch with Portugal.
Venezuela is very close to the network projects but a center is not possible to be organized in that country yet.
Spain is developing a program with Government support in Cuba during 2010 and it is expected that a new center in Cuba could be organized then.
ATINA Report
ATINA has developed an intense activity during the year.
For the first time, the Association got subsidies from the City Government to support the office.
These are some of the activities and projects organized by ATINA during 2009:
- ATINA Awards 3rd. Edition. The ceremony took place in the Theatre for Children and Young People World Day.
- Participation in Bologna Vizzione di Ragazzi, Vizzione di Futuro: Theatre for Children and Young People in Argentina.
- Participation in Paideia´s Festival, San Pablo in different forums.
- Participation in Platform 11 plus Playwright´s meeting as cooperative member and with the presentation of a playwright.
- ASSAMBLY and election of its new Board of Directors.
- ATINA is working on the following international projects:
Schoolyard Stories: the call and the selection of plays took place during 2009. During mach 2010 the Directors workshop will take place in Buenos Aires.
1st. International Theatre for Children and Young People Researchers and Criticts Forum in cooperation with ITYARN. Topic: Taboos in Theatre for Children. July 2010.
III ATINA International Festival (to confirm) October 2010.
Other projects like the Ibero American Forum, the Library, “About Feelings”, (program to prevent sexual abuse) went on during 2009 and they will be continued during 2010.
As a result of the cooperation between Schoolyard Stories (Iberoamerica) and Platform 11 plus (Europe), the Universidad Popular de Belgrano (Buenos Aires- Argentina) and the company Pilot (York- UK) are cooproducing a play that will be presented in both countries during 2010.
