Patchwork Family - Intercultural Theatre Project for Children

As part of 50th International Children Theatre Festival in Šibenik from 26 - 30 June was held a meeting of theater artists and producers from six countries in Europe and Asia, participants of the Intercultural Theatre Project for Children - Patchwork Family.
Patchwork Family is the project of intercultural cooperation in theatre for young audiences (TYA) between theatres and the artists from Europe and Eastern Asia (Austria, Croatia, Italy, Russia and Republic Korea, Japan (possible partners: Song, Song, Song Theatre, Taiwan (Shu Ming) and a company from China) with the following goals:
1. To produce an intercultural performance for young audiences on the highest artistic level with the mixed international cast of the artists and international production team.
2. To explore the possibilities of intercultural dialog between the artist in TYA.
3. To start the transfer of knowledge and initiate the process of learning
4. To support the development of TYA and Festivals

Collection of seven plays by British authors in English and in translation into Croatian and Serbian is now available for your collection. It is the fourth book in the edition of the Readers after German Reader, Mostarian Reader and Polish Reader. All the publications will be available in on line Theatre Epicentre store on this web site soon, but you you can get your free copy with the annual membership fee in Theatre Epicentre.
The International Playwrights' Forum with the promotion of British Reader
The International playwrights' forum organized by ASSITEJ Serbia in colaboration with Theatre Epicentre, and supported by British Council in Belgrade, Ministry of Culture - Republic of Serbia, Belgrade City Assembly - Secretariat for Culture and Palilula Municipality, is created as two-day-long promotion of the anthology of the new texts for children and young people, British Reader, published by Theatre Epicentre .
The forum is organized as a public reading of the plays published in this book and a discussion about the topics that they explore. In the course of the intensive two-day programme, the forum participants and the audience will get acquainted with the new trends in theatre for children and young people and they will have an opportunity to exchange their opinions and experiences regarding techniques in development of dramatic texts for that audience.
Besides the British authors whose plays are published in British Reader, the forum will welcome playwrights and dramaturges from Poland, Romania, Greece, Slovenia, Croatia and Serbia. Furthermore, translators, directors and other theatre workers who participate in creation of theatre for the young will take part in the forum as well, which will initiate discussions about various aspects of theatre art and the social role of the theatre for children and young people.
Theatre Epicentre
Theatre centre for young audiences in Central and Southeastern Europe.
- Theatre Epicentre is registered as the association of the artists and theatres in Central and South-eastern Europe and is accepting membership applications.
- Polish Reader, collection of Polish plays was promoted in Poznan, Poland, in Šibenik Festival and Epifest.
- The 3rd Epifest, the festival of theatres from Central and South-eastern Europe was held in October, where the plan for 2010. was made.
In 2010 Theatre Epicentre will:
• publish the British Reader, collection of British plays in translation in cooperation with Unicorn Theater and Theater of Angels, London, UK;
• publish South Slavic Reader, collection of plays from South-eastern Europe in translation into English;
• with ASSITEJ Hungary, Kolibry Theater and Kaposvar Festival co-organize a meeting of the organizers of the festivals from the Central and the South-eastern Europe with the goal to form the network of the festivals in the region.
• co-organize the playwrights forum and promotion of the British Reader in Belgrade Serbia in May/June;
• the first assembly of the members of Theatre Epicentre will be held in Bursa, Turkey in October 2010.
• in cooperation with ATYA, Theatre Epicentre will start international and intercultural cooperation with Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese and four European theatres.
