Although the meeting’s agenda is still under consideration, TYA/USA welcomes two ASSITEJ guests—Wolfgang Schneider, ASSITEJ/International President and Ivica Simic, ASSITEJ/International’s Secretary General.
TYA/USA has granted Ann Shaw Fellowships to the following recipients:
Ryan Conarro (Freelance teaching Artist, Director, Actor, and Playwright will witness new culturally based drama education programs in development in South India along with mentor Daniel Kelin II, a past Ann Shaw Fellow.
Linda Hartzell (Artistic Director Seattle Children’s Theatre) will travel to Edinburgh, Scotland to attend the Bank of Scotland Imaginate Festival. There she will not only connect with international colleagues, but she will also have the opportunity to share her knowledge and success in fundraising with European colleagues.
Wesley R. Taylor (Director of Finance and Technology at Birmingham Children’s Theatre) will participate in a unique collaboration and mentorship with the Center for Puppetry Arts Distance Learning Lab in Atlanta, GA in hopes of creating future distance learning programs.
Xanthia Walker and Sarah Sullivan (MFA candidates Arizona State University) are traveling the nation gathering material for an anthology of scripts comprised of pieces collaboratively created and performed with youth and professional artists.
SEMI-FINALIST
Matt Omasta (Adjunct theatre Professor and Freelance Teaching Artist) would like to travel to Chicago, IL to work with Barrel of Monkeys both as an assistant director and also to help create an assessment tool that will generate concrete data regarding the company’s impact on its young audiences.
