ASSITEJ Spain sets up an advisory committee for international festivals

ASSITEJ Spain creates an advisory committee for international festivals. This advisory committee will facilitate the search for international festivals interested in including Spanish shows in their programme.

The advisory committee is made up of external specialists, who will recommend Spanish shows according to the specific needs of those festivals that request it. They will objectively advise international festivals according to the nature of each festival or the proposal they are looking for. The members of this committee are Spanish programmers of recognized prestige, independents and not linked to companies or distributors.

From ASSITEJ Spain we encourage all interested festivals to send us their requests to schedule Spanish shows. The contact address is: assitejespana@assitej.net

ASSITEJ Spain publishes the Suzanne Lebeau’s essay: ‘Escribir para el público joven’ (Writing for young audiences)

‘Escribir para el público joven’ (‘Writing for young audiences’) is the most recent editorial newness published by ASSITEJ España. The prestigious Canadian playwright Suzanne Lebeau publishes this essay for the first time in Spanish. The book is included in the Essay Collection of ASSITEJ Spain.

In this book Suzanne Lebeau reflects in an exhaustive and profound way on the path she has travelled during the last forty years of creative and professional practice with her company Le Carrousel. Through her research-creation methodology, she immerses us in her constant concern to tell the world to children from a non-authoritarian and non-educational perspective, without at the same time renouncing her own existential questions and concerns as a creator.

The book is now available on the website of ASSITEJ Spain. You can find it at the following address: https://www.assitej.net/publicaciones/escribir-publico-joven/

The playwriter Itziar Pascual wins the National Performing Arts Award for Children and Youth

Playwright Itziar Pascual wins the National Performing Arts Prize for Children and Youth 2019, an award granted annually by the Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sport. This is the first time that a playwright has won this award.

Pascual has been a member of ASSITEJ Spain for many years and has always shown a great connection and interest in the defence of the performing arts for children and young people, supporting the projects of ASSITEJ and defending from dramaturgy and knowledge the promotion of theatre for children and young people.

In 2005 she was awarded the ASSITEJ Spain Prize for Theatre for Children and Young People with her play ‘Mascando Ortigas’, which was published in our theatre collections. Later she would also publish ‘Aire de vanilla / Ainhara. Dramatic poem’ and, already in the field of research, she would also publish ‘Suzanne Lebeau’: Las huellas de la esperanza’, a study on the literary work of the Canadian author.
