On Monday 23rd November, the 21st ASSITEJ Spain Prize for Theatre for Children and Young People was awarded to the Catalan playwright Jordi Palet i Puig, for his text De azúcar.
“A woman who goes to school every afternoon to look for her grandson. A child who spends every afternoon with his grandmother. A grandfather who is no longer there, but who is looking for a way to keep his memory alive…”; De azúcar tells us about mourning and the power of memory to retain those we love, but who have already left.
Jordi Palet i Puig (Ullastrell, 1973) is a stage director and playwright. He is a member of the company Farrés Brothers y Cía, and his theatre focuses on the language of puppets and objects.
