Ricca Ricca Festa -International Theater Festival OKINAWA for Young Audiences- is an annual international performing arts festival for children and young people which has been taking place in Okinawa, Japan since 2005. The festival presents diverse range of theatre, dance, puppetry. physical theatre, circus and interdisciplinary works from Japan, Asia and all over the world and also produces various international collaborative projects. The festival was organised with the nickname Kijimuna Festa between 2005 and 2013 in Okinawa City. Kijimuna Festa 2012 hosted the very first ASSITEJ International Meeting (renamed as Artistic Gathering now). In 2014 the festival moved its home to Naha City, the capital of Okinawa Prefecture, and launched the new nickname – Ricca Ricca Festa – in 2015, which means ‘Let’s go’ in Okinawan dialect. The festival has developed the international reputation with its carefully-selected programme and it has become an important platform of TYA in East Asia. In 2016, ricca ricca*festa initiates Asian TYA Network programme with the support from the Japan Foundation Asia Center to connect TYA professionals in East and South East Asia. Ricca Ricca Festa 2016 hosts Belgium Focus.
